Starbucks launches first-of-its-kind Mobile Application in Thailand

Starbucks Thailand mobile app elevates customer experience by offering a convenient way to pay and stay connected with Starbucks using a mobile device
Murray Darling, managing director and Sumonpin Jotikabukkana, marketing and communications director of Starbucks Coffee (Thailand) Co., Ltd., together with Starbucks partners unveil the Starbucks Thailand Mobile app, first-of-its kind mobile application in Thailand
Starbucks Coffee Thailand today introduced the much anticipated mobile app, Starbucks Thailand – a first for a coffee retailer in Thailand. Customers now can conveniently pay for purchases using the mobile app at any of the 215 Starbucks stores across Thailand. In addition, the mobile app allows users to earn stars with the My Starbucks RewardsTM loyalty program, find a nearby store, explore Starbucks portfolio of whole bean coffees and stay up-to-date on Starbucks food and beverage news. The app is available for download on Android and iOS operating systems and is another example of the company’s commitment to continually elevating customers’ Starbucks Experience.
“We always aim to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide them new, innovative ways to experience our brand. With Starbucks Thailand, we are proud to deliver on this promise to customers in Thailand with a remarkable digital innovation that is the first for Thailand’s coffee industry,” said Murray Darling, managing director of Starbucks Coffee (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the smartphone penetration rate was estimated at 37.7 percent in 2014. However, this figure is expected to increase to 50 percent of the total Thai population in 2015, representing a growth in the mobile-savvy population. Starbucks Thailand integrates the popular Starbucks Card payment functionality on a mobile device along with further features to enhance customers’ Starbucks Experience. Members of the My Starbucks RewardsTM loyalty program now can access their registered Starbucks Cards and use the mobile payment capability along with the store locator. My Starbucks RewardsTM, which launched in Thailand in March 2014, currently has more than 450,000 registered members in the country.
To pay with Starbucks Thailand in-store, customers can simply click the ‘Touch to Pay’ button on their mobile device to generate a barcode to scan, making payment a quick and easy process. The application is available to download from 16 March 2015.
Furthermore, Starbucks is providing a special offer for users who download the?Starbucks Thailand?mobile application and those who purchase any Starbucks handcrafted beverages at any Starbucks stores during 19 – 31 March 2015 will entitle to a free VIA Latte sachet (1 sachet/1 receipt).?
