Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) celebrated the opening of 100 stores in Thailand by announcing several fund raising activities to help build a health clinic at Bann Huay Som Poi, Chiang Mai and support other coffee farming communities in Thailand. During “Good Coffee Day” on 26th October, the value of every cup of coffee purchased during 100 minutes between 1:00 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., will be matched by Starbucks Coffee Thailand and contributed directly to help build a health clinic in Bann Huay Som Poi, Chiang Mai – one of the areas where coffee beans for Muan JaiTM Blend are sourced from. Additionally, from the beginning of October to the end of December, 10 percent of sales of special tumblers and five percent of Muan JaiTM Blend Coffee will be donated to support other coffee farming communities within Thailand.
“We are delighted that customers in Thailand have welcomed us for the past nine years and allowed us to offer high-quality coffee, legendary service and unique Starbucks Experience in 100 locations throughout the country,” said John Culver. “From the very beginning, Starbucks has been committed to doing business the right way from sourcing the world’s highest-quality coffee in an ethical way to positively contributing to the communities that we are a part of. This is a fundamental part of the Starbucks culture, and Starbucks Thailand exemplifies these qualities,” he continued.
“Our success is primarily due to the dedication of our partners who share their excitement for coffee and passion for the communities with their customers,” Felix Michael added. “Today we are honoring them and their efforts, as well as the coffee farmers in Thailand who produce high-quality arabica coffee beans for Starbucks Muan Jai? Blend.”
When Starbucks opened its first store in Chidlom in July 1998, it was credited with establishing the modern coffeehouse culture, delivering unparalleled customer service, and being a part of the communities in Thailand. Since then, customers have been able to enjoy the Starbucks Experience throughout the country including Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hua Hin, Samui, Pattaya, Nakorn Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Nong Kai and, most recently Ubon Ratchathani.
