Shin Broadband Internet (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (SBI), a subsidiary of Shin Satellite Plc., announced today that the Company has sold more than 100,000 units of DTV, a low-cost satellite dish set including a Ku-band satellite dish and set-top-box, in 2007. SBI launched the DTV service in June 2007.
Mr. Tanadit Charoenchan, General Manager of Shin Broadband Internet (Thailand) said, “We are delighted that DTV has reached to more than 100,000 units of sales, which has exceeded our initial targets. We have to give credit to our dealers and the SBI team since DTV is a new product that has been just introduced into the market six months ago.”
“Since the beginning, our aim was to build a very low-cost satellite TV dish set that is affordable to all households in Thailand and to provide high signal quality and sharp pictures with brilliant colors. We also added the Distance Learning Channels via Satellite on DTV to enhance equal opportunity in education for children, especially in remote areas. In 2008, we plan to continue to work closely with our dealers on marketing at the grass-root level and sales; and plan to add more free channels on DTV”, added Mr. Tanadit.
DTV is the Ku-band satellite dish set including a set-top-box that is able to receive free-to-air television programs with no monthly fees in the concept of “An affordable Satellite TV Dish for Every Home”. The “DTV” satellite dish is lime yellow in color to represent liveliness and brightness. The satellite dish can be easily installed by a technician and available nationwide.
On 21-22 December 2007, Shin Broadband Internet (Thailand) held a seminar called “DTV Yellow Party” for its Dealers and aimed at aggressively expanding the DTV market throughout the country in 2008.
