Nonthaburi, Thailand: Shin Satellite Plc. has acquired a new regional broadcasting customer, Nepal Television Corporation on its brand new Thaicom 5 platform. Nepal TV has commenced leasing transponder space on Thaicom 5 for its two national television channels broadcasting news and entertainment programs. The Transponder Leasing Contract with Nepal TV started on July 1st, 2006. Nepal Television is using the C-band regional beam on Thaicom 5 on a digital channel. Mr. Pradeep Unni, Vice President of Shin Satellite said, “We are very honored to start the new Thaicom 5 platform service with a new customer, Nepal Television. Once again Thaicom has been selected as a platform for national television. With the new Thaicom-5 platform, we are committed long-term to expand video transmission services throughout the South Asian Region and we continue to bring new value-added services and technologies for our customers”. Shin Satellite completed its mission to transfer all customers from Thaicom 3 to Thaicom 5 on July 13th. Nepal Television is the first new customer to use the satellite.
