- The only GDS to lead the industry with 87 chains guaranteeing lowest rates -
Galileo International, the leading global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD), today announced a new agreement with Pan Pacific Hotels, which will see them become a participant in Galileo’s Best Available Rate (BAR) programme.
This announcement follows a recent agreement with another Asia Pacific-based chain, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, and clearly positions Galileo as the leading GDS for hotel rate guarantee programmes. These additions bring the total number of participating chains to 87 with over 30,000 hotels.
The Galileo BAR programme enables major hotel chains to provide travel agents with access to the best available published, non-restricted rates offered either online or via the hotel chain’s own reservation line. This programme is exclusive to Galileo-connected travel agents worldwide and provides the reassurance that the rate the agent sees is the best available.
“By adding more content to our BAR programme we are able to offer an unrivalled service to Galileo travel agents at a time when our competitors are just getting off the ground,” said Joe Lim, Business Development Manager – Hotel & Car Service, APAC, Galileo International. “Our agents can now identify and sell properties with the confidence that they are getting the best rate, addressing the inconsistency of hotel rates across distribution channels and allowing them to save time by only needing to search in one place”
In addition to these most recent additions to the BAR programme, Galileo also has contractual agreements with major hotel chains such as Meritus; Shangri-La and Oberoi Hotels; Accor; InterContinental Hotel Group; Raffles/Swisshotel Hotels; Stamford Hotels; Mandarin Oriental and Pacific International; World Hotels; Marriott International; Hyatt Hotels & Resorts; Hilton International; Outrigger Hotels & Resorts; Kimpton Hotels; Carlson Hospitality; Omni Hotels; Minto Place Hotels; Destinations, West Coast & Red Lion Hotels; Best Western; and Kempinski Hotels & Resorts, Abba Hotels, Great Hotels Organisation, Hotusa Hotels, Keytel, Maritim Hotels, and Supranational Hotels, to provide access to their best available non-restricted published rates through the Galileo GDS.
