SAS Scandinavian Airlines has introduced a new service to automatically SMS all passengers who will be faced by potential delays or cancelled flights. The new service, available now in Bangkok, is free of charge for SAS customers. If a delay occurs, a text message will be sent automatically to passengers who have provided their mobile phone number in their booking.
Members of SAS' frequent flyer program, EuroBonus, receive an even wider offer of SMS services, including, for example, gate information, which is available free of charge.
"SAS is Europe's most punctual major airline, but when an irregularity occurs, we want to provide the best of service for our customers," says Bangkok-based Hakan Olsson, General Manager and Director for SAS in Southeast Asia.
For passengers who book on www.flysas.com or at the SAS Sales Center, the new SMS messages will be sent automatically to the mobile number given to SAS by the customer. Passengers who book with a travel agent should make sure their mobile number has been inserted in the booking. Or contact SAS at 02 645 8200.
The new service is available on SAS or Blue 1 flights, except for flights originating in Dubai, Germany, Russia and Switzerland.

About Scandinavian Airlines
SAS is Northern Europe's largest airline with more than 900 daily flights to over 150 destinations in Scandinavia, Europe, the US and Asia. The extensive network provides convenient connections to Scandinavian and European destinations from Copenhagen airport.
SAS's ambition is to be among the most environmentally friendly airlines in Europe. The target is to have 20% lower emissions by 2020. SAS is also Europe's most punctual leading airline, according to the latest statistics from Flightstats, which tracks over 150,000 flights per day.
Operations to Bangkok were commenced in 1949. In 1959, SAS co-founded Thai Airways International Ltd., with the Thai Government through Thai Airways Co Ltd (TAC). SAS supplied aircraft, management and training to the Thais in order to build THAI into an international reputable airline. SAS's 30% shareholding was released back to the Thai Government in 1977, but the close co-operation has continued. Both SAS and THAI are founding members of Star Alliance.
