Today (23 March 2007), at the Head Office of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, a signing ceremony was held between the Office of Athletic Competition Services for the 24th Summer International University Sports Competition, Thammasat University, and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited. THAI received the honor from the Thai Government to serve as the provider of meals and beverages to athletes and working group members participating in the 24th Summer International University Sports Competition 2007. Presiding over the signing ceremony was Mrs. Pismai Chandrubeksa, THAI’s Managing Director for Catering, and Dr. Sumet Yamnoon, Director of the Office of Athletic Competition Services for the 24th Summer International University Sports Competition, Associate Professor Decha Sangkwan, Deputy Chancellor for the Management of Lampang Center, Thammasat University.
Mrs. Pismai Chandrubeksa, THAI’s Managing Director for Catering, said that this cooperation was based on an agreement drawn between Thailand and the Managing Committee for the International University Sports Federation (FISU), whereby Thailand will host the 24th Summer International University Sports Competition during 8-18 August 2007, which honors THAI’s Catering unit to once again join in cooperations with the Office of Athletic Competition Services for the Summer International University Sports Competition and Thammasat University. THAI Catering will prepare meals and beverages prior to and during the athletic competitions for approximately 10,000 athletes and working group members from over 150 countries worldwide. As THAI Catering is a business unit that produces and provides services of hygienic meals, with high quality meal production and catering services of international standards that meets the needs of athletes participating in competitions who come from varied cultures and religions, further creating good national identity. Therefore, THAI Catering has been entrusted as the catering service provider for meals and beverages during this year’s competition, due to its international standard of services that is renown worldwide.
THAI Catering will arrange meals and beverages for athletes and working group members from various countries during 5-19 August 2007, for all meals from 06.00 – 22.00 hours, including preparation of snacks and beverages through until 24.00 hours for athletes returning from competitions or evening practice sessions, including preparation of boxed meals depending on athlete requirements.
THAI Catering has been honored to receive the confidence of the Thai Government to produce meals for athletes and working group members during the 13th Asian Games 1998, which Thailand was the host country. As well, THAI also provided catering services to handicapped athletes from various countries around the world during the FESPIC Games 1998. Furthermore, in 2004, THAI Catering provided catering services for 20,000 people from around the world who attended the Lions Club Conference in the Sattahip district of Cholburi provice, when Thailand was the host country.
