Airline catering group Gate Gourmet and Jetstar of Australia are joining forces with the supply of catering services for Jetstar's new long-haul international routes starting November 2006 (all flights subject to regulatory approval).
"This is an exciting development for Gate Gourmet to partner with a company on the leading edge of passenger in-flight service providing a long-haul value-based product," said Guy Dubois, Gate Gourmet's Executive VP Finance & Administration and CAO. The Jetstar long-haul product will be the first of its kind to provide passengers with food and beverage selections for sale on long-haul flights.
Jetstar will commence flights to six international destinations covering nine international routes -- (Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket), Japan (Osaka), United States (Honolulu), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), Indonesia (Bali)) -- directly from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, Australia.
The award of the long-haul catering contract to Gate Gourmet further cements an already close relationship with Jetstar. Gate Gourmet has been managing the provisioning of the domestic catering product since the start of the Jetstar operation in May 2004.

The venture will place Jetstar as Gate Gourmet's largest customer in Australia.
