The newly founded Siemens Communications Group has started its operations worldwide since October 1st, 2004. The merging of the former Siemens fixed and mobile communications units – IC Networks and IC Mobile – has created one of the world's largest suppliers in the telecommunications sector.
Towards the convergence of fixed and wireless networks and the constantly changing situation of the global telecom market, Siemens has merged the two business units of IC Networks and IC Mobile into one business unit: Communications, making Siemens one of the top players in the world’s telecommunications market. With the ability to provide innovative and reliable end-to-end solutions from the core network to the devices, Siemens is in a better position to compete more powerfully in the tough market and differentiate itself from the competition, particularly the new Asian entrants.
The merger brings along the promise of opportunities worldwide. This applies also to the local situation in Thailand which makes Siemens Communications become the most powerful single telecom supplier organization in Thailand with more than 600 employees. “Our merger is the opportunity to boost our competitiveness and to better address our customers’ changing needs,” said Mr. Christian Onselaere, Executive Vice President and Head of Communications Group, Siemens Limited Thailand.
The new Group, which is currently represented in more than 160 countries with 60,000 employees worldwide, is subdivided into three segments of Carrier Networks, Enterprise Networks and Devices, with a total of eight divisions. These segments are Carrier Networks (Mobile Networks, Fixed Networks and Carrier Services), Enterprise Networks (Enterprise Systems and Enterprise Services) and Devices (Mobile Devices, Customer Premise Equipment Devices and Wireless Modules).
“We are now the only single source provider in telecommunications that offers end-to-end solutions as well as related services for all networks: from mobile to fixed networks, from enterprise to carrier networks and from wireless devices to wireline products and services. This will benefit our customers in particular by helping them exploit the convergence of fixed and wireless networks, public and enterprise networks, voice and data communications”, concludes Mr. Onselaere.
Besides Mr. Christian Onselaere, Head of Communications Group, the other management members of Communications Group of Siemens Limited Thailand include Mr. Andreas Niemann, the Commercial Head of Communications and Mr. Peter Klimt, Deputy Head of Communications
