Seagate Technology ( Thailand ) Limited is partnering with the Thai Robotics Society, NECTEC and the Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO), are pleased to invite you to attend the press conference on the 1st "Thailand Humanoid Soccer Competition 2009". The competition aims at selecting the winning to take part in World RoboCup 2010 in Singapore.
A humanoid robot is a robot with its overall appearance based on that of the human body, allowing interaction with made-for-human tools or environments. In general, humanoid robots have a torso with a head, two arms and two legs. In this competition, each team of university students needs to develop 2 robots. The problem of this contest is total number of goals and soccer-robots’ abilities to shoot the balls into the goals.
A humanoid robot is an autonomous robot because it can adapt to changes in its environment or itself and continue to reach its goal. This is the main difference between humanoid and other kinds of robots such as the industrial ones.
The press conference will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 1.00 - 3.30 p.m. at the Monthathip 3 Room, the Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok.
