The AT-9000/24 is suitable for small and medium businesses including the hospitality and education industries.
The AT-9000/24 switch offers 24 copper ports 10/100/1000T and a non-blocking architecture to provide wire speed throughput and maximum bandwidth for the most demanding network environments. The 4 SFP combo slots are for uplinks, enabling administrators to extend the network via four mini GBICs (SFP) slots. The SFPs are plug and play and are hot swappable.

The AT-9000/24 switch supports RADIUS, security with 802.1x authentication and VLAN Tagging which defines changes to Ethernet frames. It allows switches to assign end-stations to different virtual LANs, and defines a standard way for VLANs to communicate across switched networks. RADIUS is a security feature that authenticates a user logging onto the network using a challenge/response method. A RADIUS client contacts a RADIUS server to authenticate access to the network. A typical RADIUS server can handle remote-access authentication, control user access rights, and gather accounting information and the 802.1x authentication offers an effective framework for authenticating and controlling user traffic to a protected network, as well as dynamically varying encryption keys.
The Allied Telesyn switch also includes features such as four priority queues found in the IEEE 802.1p that can streamline the traffic, IEEE 802.1ad Link Aggregation and LACP. Link Aggregation with the IEEE standard allow users to create a single high-speed logical link that combines several lower-speed physical links: for example, a 200Mbps logical link that is comprised of 2 separate 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet connections between the same end points. LACP is a protocol that operates at a new link aggregation sub-layer to Layer 2 of the traditional Ethernet protocol stack. LACP is part of the Link Aggregation standard and automatically assigns ports to a Link Aggregation Group when all the ports at both ends of a physical link have the same characteristics. It also monitors existing groups and deletes ports whose characteristics have changed.
The AT-9000/24 can be used on a desktop or in a rack and can be easily managed because the switch includes an extensive range of management features such as web-based interfaces, command line interfaces, SNMP and Telnet. Front panel LEDs allow users to monitor the switch status. Management is available though any tagged or untagged VLAN and firmware and configuration files which can be uploaded or downloaded via TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol, a simplified version of FTP that transfers files without password protection or directory capabilities). Network devices can use TFTP to download new versions of operating firmware.
The switch is MDI/MDI-X on all ports for simple connection to other hubs and switches. MDI/MDIX is a type of Ethernet port connection using twisted pair (ordinary copper wire that connects home and many business computers to the telephone company) cabling. The MDI (medium dependent interface) is the component of the Media Attachment Unit (MAU) that provides the physical and electrical connection to the cabling medium. An MDIX (MDI crossover) is a version of MDI that enables connection between like devices. MDI ports connect to MDIX ports via straight-through twisted pair cabling; both MDI-to-MDI and MDIX-to-MDIX connections use crossover twisted pair cabling.
The AT-9000/24 is designed as a cost-effective solution for today, richly equipped with features without complex management costs. The AT-9000/24 allows the customer to protect their network and costs.
