Allied Telesyn, a global provider of end-to-end Ethernet/IP solutions, today announced the release of the AT-9924Ts Gigabit Layer 3+ expandable switch designed to provide unmatched flexibility. The powerful L3+ switch with a 128Gbps switching fabric supports up to two wire-speed 10Gigabit Ethernet ports and is ideal for organisations where high capacity network applications are required.
The 1RU Allied Telesyn AT-9924Ts allows network managers to customise and change configurations as the network expands and evolves by offering expansion modules that slot into the base unit. The choice of modules comes in 1 x 10GbE, 12 x 1GbE (SFP) and 12 x 1GbE (RJ45) that plug into the two high-speed 20Gbps expansion bays. The addition of one 10GbE module with hot-swappable XFP offers a high capacity fiber uplink that can be increased with a second 10GbE module for increases in bandwidth needs, providing wiring closet aggregation of Gigabit to the desktop. Two 10GbE modules also offer the options of aggregating Gigabit uplinks from other network switches with up to 20Gbps capacity to the network core, or provision of a fast failover and resiliency against link failure when used with MSTP (802.1s).
Additionally, plugging in the 12-port RJ45 copper expansion modules ups the port density to provide maximum Gigabit Ethernet for desktop or aggregation applications. The units can also be swapped with the SFP modules to provide flexible options for mixed copper and fiber links to server farms or long haul fiber links.
“The variety of options available with the AT-9924Ts is a manifestation of the flexibility that Allied Telesyn is known for,” observed Jason Phoon, Allied Telesyn’s Senior Manager for Product Marketing. “The key goal of the company is to provide quality network equipment that protects our customers’ investments and future proofs their networks.”
Besides peerless flexibility, the Layer 3+ switch also comes with comprehensive policy-based Quality of Service (QoS) features that ensure maximum availability of premium voice, video and data services and business-critical applications. Prioritisation can be provisioned with two rate three colour bandwidth metering, with burst sizes to improve TCP-IP bandwidth limiting performance. Bandwidth controls enable 1Kbps traffic class resolutions, buffered max bandwidth at egress on all ports and 8 egress queues per port. The low latency QoS is ideal for Voice over IP and real-time media steaming applications.
The unit also comes with dual hot-swappable AC/48vDC power supplies, front to back cooling to increase reliability, full environmental monitoring and a bad cable detection feature to alert network managers of the location and distance of a cable fault.
