Allied Telesyn, the global IP networking solutions leader, today brought to market the Allied Telesyn AT-9700 series of managed Layer 3 stackable Gigabit Ethernet switches offering reliable, high-performance Gigabit connectivity to the desktop.
Networking has progressed over recent years with the increased use of bandwidth sapping multimedia, video and burgeoning user demand. This series of switches adds further Gigabit capability to Allied Telesyn’s already impressive range of switching solutions.
The powerful Layer 3 functionality of the AT-9700 series supports multimedia applications like voice and video, and is aimed at providing high-performance connectivity for multi-tenant units, hospitals, schools and campuses as well as mid-sized enterprises.
Up to 12 AT-9700 switches can be stacked in Ring architecture via 2 x 10G ports with high-speed stack cables. This adds up to a total of 40Gbps in a single stack providing multiple Gigabit connections.
“The Allied Telesyn AT-9700 series switches pass data packets at an inspiring stacked backplane speed of 40Gbps, while the Ring stacking enables the highest resiliency available,” said Jason Phoon, Senior Manager for Product Marketing at Allied Telesyn. “These stackable switches are a low cost alternative to a chassis solution and allows for ease of management with one IP address and configuration file for the entire stack, which means savings on both CAPEX and OPEX.”
The 1RU AT-9700 series switches support 4096 VLANs (802.1Q/p) to allow scalability needed in a campus network. It also comes with extensive Quality of Service and filtering at wirespeed for priority and control over real media applications such as broadcast TV in hospitals and VoIP in enterprises.
The switches include Layer 3 IP static routing, RIP, RIPv2, IGMPv2, OSPFv2 routing protocols and SNMPv3 for secure management. SNMPv3 adds authentication, privacy and access control with functionalities such as data integrity, data origin authentication and data confidentiality features.
The AT-9700 series of Gigabit Ethernet switches is available in two models - the AT-9724TS with 24 10/100/1000TX ports and 4 combo SFP ports and the AT-9748TS/XP 48 port version. The AT-9748TS/XP also boasts an expansion bay for a network module, AT-XP9700, having 2 x 10GbE XFP slots that can take in short and long haul XFPs. Both models are available now from resellers throughout the Asia Pacific region.
