Allied Telesyn, the global end-to-end networking solutions vendor today introduced the AT-ARW256E Wireless ADSL bridge/router. The ADSL bridge/router comes with 4 Ethernet ports and 1 USB port and is targeted at small offices and branch offices and customers of service providers. The newly launched AT-ARW256E combines the wireless access point, ADSL modem, IP router, 4-port 10/100TX switch, USB port and Stateful Inspection Firewall into one affordable unit.
Allied Telesyn’s AT-ARW256E can be easily installed over an existing analog line that supports standard POTS operation together with state-of-the-art ADSL services. Standard cabling is used to connect the device to the Ethernet LAN and ADSL. All the cables are supplied together with the product and it can be used straight out of the box. Multiple computers can connect to this device via wireless-connection through the built-in access point, or via wired-connection through the 4-port 10/100TX switch or USB port. Both wired and wireless access can be used simultaneously.
The all-in-one unit can be used for intensive data transfer, faster web downloading, video-on-demand, video streaming and telecommuting via Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPN operation is also supported using PPTP and IPSec pass-through. Transparent passthrough for Microsoft’s Point to Point Tunnelling Protocol (PPTP) and IPSec allows organisations to extend their corporate network to remote users and branch offices, by building a VPN across the Internet using secure ‘tunnels’. This eliminates the cost of long distance dial-up and the need for remote access server (RAS) equipment. The AT-ARW256E is equipped with a powerful Stateful Inspection Firewall that protects from malicious attacks from the Internet, giving peace of mind for the home and branch office use.
“This is an ideal solution for small offices to set up their network and offer a high speed, ‘always on’ ADSL with ease and little effort.” said Jason Phoon, Allied Telesyn’s Senior Manager for Product Marketing in Asia Pacific. “SOHOs and branch offices will benefit most from this compact, easy-to-use unit.
The AT-ARW256E is also the service provider’s choice for its customers. This device supports network speeds up to 8Mbps downstream and up to 1Mbps upstream, giving service providers the flexibility to offer better services for their customers. Support for PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) and PPP over ATM (PPPoA) provides full compatibility with existing ISP dial-up systems. Superior rate of performance ensures that service providers and users alike enjoy maximum data throughput at maximum line-lengths.
The AT-ARW256E is able to support up to 253 LAN users by sharing only one high speed ADSL line and one IP address. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows 253 users to share one Internet IP address for low-cost internet access.
The AT-ARW256E also includes features such ADSL2/2+ ready, conformance to WECA and WiFi standards, seamless WLAN roaming, Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) technology, dynamic host configuration protocol, stateful inspection firewall, network address translation, user-friendly configuration wizard and quick and simple upgrading of firmware enhancements.
Allied Telesyn’s AT-ARW256E is available now in Asia except Singapore. With the launch, Allied Telesyn is also offering an introductory promotion package. With every purchase of the newly launched AT-ARW256E at the introductory price of US$120 (UP: US$170), customers will receive a complimentary AT-WR54BG (WLAN PC Card) or be able to purchase the AT-WCU200G (USB Adapter) at a special rate of US$10.
